    How Studio works

    01 Real model data

Studio reads the daily summaries we build from the raw ECMWF, GFS and ICON runs: highs, lows, rain, snow, gusts and thunderstorms, for every place on Earth.

    02 A forecaster's story

It picks the scenes a presenter would show: the sky, the temperatures, then rain, storms, snow, wind, heat or frost only where they really happen, and the days after.

    03 Ready in a minute

Studio draws the maps, writes the captions, composes the music and encodes the video in about a minute, ready to download or share.

    Questions

    Is Studio really free?

Yes, completely: every video is 1080p, with every look and icon pack, your own logo and no watermark.

Can I post the videos on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or Facebook?

Yes, they are yours to post. Keep the forecast credit line (it names the models), which is how the open data licences ask to be credited.

Where does the forecast come from?

From the latest ECMWF IFS, NOAA GFS and DWD ICON runs, which we download every hour. Studio shows the median of the three models; you can also pick a single model.

    Why is there no voice-over?

Captions carry the story so the video works with the sound off, in any of 7 languages including Arabic. The calm music is composed by Studio itself, so there is no copyright claim.

    Which browsers work?

Recent Chrome, Edge and Safari export MP4. Firefox exports MP4 or WebM depending on your system. On older browsers the video is recorded in real time.
